The sharp-eyed (or should I say sharp-eared) amongst you may have noticed that there has been a slight change in what I talk about on the podcast. You may have heard me talk more about becoming your own boss, starting out as an entrepreneur, becoming a freelancer and leaving the 9 to 5. I haven’t been talking about career change as much, like how you can move to a new industry or specialism.  This isn’t just a phase in the podcast it has been a conscious decision to change things up and to niche down on what I’m teaching and broaden who I’m talking to here and in my business as a whole.

WHAT’S CHANGING & WHY

Going forward in this podcast I’ll be talking primarily about how to make the transition from a corporate career, or any 9-to-5 day job as an employee, to become your own boss.

When I started out in my business I was all about you taking control of your career and moving in a new direction. I wanted to help people escape their frustration and unfulfillment in the corporate world (like I did) to do something they were passionate about, whether that was switching to a different specialism or industry as an employee, becoming a freelance consultant or contractor or starting their own business. The key factor was that whatever they did I wanted it to be something they loved and brought them fulfilment.

But over time I realised that where my own passion really lay was helping people find the ultimate freedom in their work, love what they do every day and be able to design the life they want. I believe that can only come about by becoming your own boss. Also, my top personal and business value is freedom and so it didn’t feel authentic for me to talk about staying as an employee when it actually isn’t something I personally truly believe is the best for people who want to do more with their lives.

Don’t get me wrong, I still think that it’s fantastic to find a job or career that you love doing in the employee world. It’s far better than staying in something that you hate, are bored with or don’t care about anymore. If that’s your thing, if you are happy with the employee life and what it brings, then go for it!

But for those of you who do long for freedom, who do want to wake up on a Monday morning and be able to choose the hours you work. To have full creative control over your work without having to go along with the company politics or agenda. To be able to grow your business as little or as much as you want so you can find your own unique vision of success.  To have more time with your family and friends because you have built your business in a way that allows it. For people like you, I am motivated and ready to show you the way.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU

If you are currently a 9 to 5-er aspiring to start your own business, become a consultant or a freelance specialist, or whatever path allows you to be your own boss, you are in the right place.

Equally, if you are frustrated in your job but have not quite worked out what you want to do yet but being your own boss is an option, then stick around.

If you are looking to move from a corporate or 9 to 5 job that no longer fulfils you to do some other exciting job that you’ve been dreaming of but remain working for someone else, I’d love you to keep listening.  But this is just a heads up that I won’t be talking about changing careers as much.  Although a lot of what I’ll talk about would absolutely work for you too as a career shifter, I will be talking primarily about examples and advice related to going it alone. I hope that makes it clear!

WHAT ELSE IS NEW?

That’s not the only change going on. Watch out, you’re going to see some more new things in the coming weeks. This podcast is getting a rebrand to match the new messaging so look out for that, don’t worry the name is staying the same but the intro trailer and artwork are getting a bit of a makeover.

Also, a project I’ve been working on for the past few months behind the scenes is my new website which I am super pumped will launch soon.

And on top of that, you may see some more free resources coming your way to help you with your big boss plans. So we are kicking off the Autumn with a whole new look and renewed energy and excitement!

THE BOTTOM LINE IS…

I am hugely excited about this new direction. It just feels more in line with who I was and who I am now. But more than that, it means I can focus 100% on helping people like you to make the transition to the exciting world of entrepreneurship and the freedom to create whatever life you want. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not all unicorns and rainbows I’m always clear on that, but if you’ve felt caged in and stifled in the employee world, you will relish the opportunity to escape the cage, flex your wings and fly high.
