I got into listening to podcasts back in about 2016 when I was planning my way out of corporate life. I didn’t know much about them apart from the fact that there was this app that appeared on my iPhone!  I’m not 100% sure what exactly got me to open that app. I think there was a podcast mentioned in an article I read or something like that.

Anyway, as soon as I started I was hooked. And although the podcasts I listen to have changed over the years as I found new shows and discovered people I liked to listen to more, my love of podcast listening has not faded one bit.

I always have about 10 different shows on the go, but I thought that may be a bit of an overkill to talk about in this episode. So instead I’m giving a mix of different shows that really helped me in my business and life, before and after I left the corporate whirlpool.

ONLINE MARKETING MADE EASY - AMY PORTERFIELD

I’m going to start with a  show I’ve been listening to for the longest, which is Online Marketing Made Easy with Amy Porterfield. Amy is a former corporate woman turned entrepreneur like me and talks about all things online business including online courses, email list building, social media and so much more.

I actually heard Amy as a guest on someone else’s show and I loved what she had to say which made me check out her podcast. Once there I realised that online marketing was something I definitely needed to know about as an aspiring entrepreneur and have been a fan ever since.  I love her professional and down-to-earth approach and she really over-delivers in the content she shares with her audience.

DIARY OF A CEO - STEPHEN BARTLETT

Regular listeners to this podcast will have already heard me talk about this one, it’s Diary of a CEO with successful entrepreneur Stephen Bartlett. On the show, he shares insights from guests from very different backgrounds and experiences and his aim is to give you a look into what it’s like behind the scenes of being an entrepreneur, the good the bad and the (sometimes) ugly

I really enjoy this podcast because of the variety of guests from different industries and backgrounds from all over the world. And also because Stephen likes to ask guests questions that other hosts may shy away from. He really digs behind the public facade to understand what makes his guests tick. Although a lot of episodes are over two hours I always listen to the end, even if I need to break it down into two or three listening sessions.

CHILL AND PROSPER - DENISE DUFFIELD-THOMAS

Next up is Chill and Prosper with Denise Duffield-Thomas. Denise is an Aussie entrepreneur and money mindset mentor. I came across Denise through her book Chillpreneur, which lead me to her other books and programmes. She covers topics including money mindset and clearing your money blocks and gives actionable advice to help you make more money, with less work.

Her philosophy is that there is ALWAYS an easier way to make money and that there is no need to hustle to be successful. I love her attitude and belief that running a business does not need to be stressful or have you working 24/7. She has really helped me release some of my false and limiting beliefs about money and my relationship with it,  which in turn helped me make my final decision to leave my well-paid corporate career.

FEEL BETTER, LIVE MORE - DR CHATTERJEE

The Feel Better, Live More podcast is the one I turn to for info on health and wellness and to inspire me to get out running! It’s hosted by Dr Chatterjee who is a GP in the UK with nearly 20 years of experience, a TV personality, and the author of 4 internationally best-selling books, including The 4 Pillar Plan.

The show aims to inspire, empower and transform the way we feel. His philosophy is when we are healthier we are happier because when we feel better we live more. In the show, we hear stories from leading health experts and interesting personalities who offer easy health life hacks, and expert advice. They also debunk common health myths, giving you the tools to transform how you eat, sleep, move and relax.

Making sure you look after your health and fitness is so important when you are building a business or freelance plan on the side of your job. So this one is a must-listen and definitely one for your playlist

THE SCHOOL OF GREATNESS - LEWIS HOWES

Ok, this last show is one I’ve only been listening to for a month or so. One of my entrepreneur friends recommended it and wow, what a great podcast. The host Lewis Howes is a lifestyle entrepreneur, high-performance business coach and keynote speaker. Lewis says he has learnt more through his podcast than he possibly could at school or college.

The School of Greatness shares inspiring interviews from the most successful people on the planet including world-renowned leaders in business, entertainment, sports, science, health, and literature all with the aim to inspire the audience to unlock their inner greatness and live their best life. So far I’m really enjoying this one so give it a try.

So there you have it, the podcasts I dip into every week. Don’t talk my word for it, have a listen and see what you think!

THE BOTTOM LINE IS…

Podcast shows are like books, you can never have too many and they are a personal choice. So check out different genres and find the shows that resonate with you, that you feel can teach you what you need to know or inspire and motivate you in some way, and then listen week after week until they become like friends. You will be surprised how much you learn along the way while being entertained.
