Self belief and truly believing that you will be able to achieve your dream career or business is a huge step in reaching success. Your belief needs to be strong enough to resist naysayers and challenges along the way.

But, what happens if your beliefs become negative? Or if you allow limiting beliefs from the past to overshadow your future? In this episode, we are exploring how belief both positive and negative can effect our career change journey and how you can safeguard your belief in your plans, so you can achieve success.

How many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before? How many of us are being held back by old, outdated beliefs that no longer serve us? How many of us have avoided trying something new because we don’t think it’s possible? Or worse, because someone else we know doesn’t think it's possible!

Beliefs can be incredibly powerful and can consciously or unconsciously affect how we live our lives.  We are all conditioned in some way when we are children to believe what is possible or not, based on experiences, our natural behaviours at that age and what we hear and see around us. And sometimes we can take those beliefs into adulthood, even if they are no longer true. Things like what we’re good at, what we should want in life, what path we should take. We are conditioned into what we should be doing and that limits what we believe is possible for us and can hold us back from our true potential.

Then as adults we continue to add more limiting beliefs as we experience and maybe fail at things. We decide, based on circumstances and conditions at that time, that something won’t work; then forget to try again when things change. Which leads to us missing out on opportunities because of self-imposed limitations and end up wasting our potential.

Or maybe you are told by others that you can’t do something because they can’t see how it could be done based on their own beliefs. You are convinced because they are so sure and you allow their beliefs to override your beliefs

Successful people don’t let knock backs affect their belief in their own potential or success. They keep on trying different ways to make their plans happen, even if they don’t succeed at the first try.  If Harry Potter author JK Rowling had stopped trying to get her first book published after many rejections, if she had not believed in the story and herself,  generations of children would have missed out on the magic in her books and the movies that followed. Not to mention the success and wealth she achieved for herself.

If you allow yourself to be influenced, all your negative beliefs help to create the invisible rope that can hold you back from going for what you really want.

Now you can’t just believe in something and effect it to happen just like that.  You do need to take action, but the type of action you take will be hugely affected by the amount of belief you have in what you’re doing.  For example, if you believe that you’re capable, competent, and deserving of your dream job or business, you’re probably more likely to notice and seek out opportunities that could help you get there. You’re also more likely to perform well in an interview.

So your belief directly affects your success as it helps you to take the right actions and behave in a way that will help you achieve your goals.

THE BOTTOM LINE IS..

Belief is a huge part of changing career successfully. no matter how much is standing in your way, whatever your rope is made of, always have the belief that what you want to achieve is possible. Believing you can be successful is the most important step in actually achieving it. That belief will help drive you to cut that invisible rope that is tying you to your old life so you can achieve that dream that used to seem impossible.
